About Hardcore Florist

cropped-logo1.pngKimberlee Allan was born on June 9th 1982 on a particularly gorgeous day in Yakima, Washington. Just kidding, I am not going to bore you with my life story told all in third person. That is douchy. Here are the specs that I think you should know about me and what I do.
I have a Bachelors of Arts degree in Art. I moved here in 2004 and have never looked back. I have been in the floral industry since 2007. I strive to live a humane, socially and eco-conscience life, personally and professionally. I love the Goodwill Bins. I cannot live with out the blackest of coffee.
I love what I do. I could say that I create unique and gorgeous arrangements, but that descriptor is what every other florist claims. No florist sets out to make bland and ugly ones (on purpose). What sets me apart is my punk rock heart, don’t mess with the little guy mentality. I create flowers with an edge, with a story, with a unique purpose. I don’t actively follow lackluster industry trends nor subscribe to using their toxic products or tired techniques. I don’t try to fit in. I don’t want to fit in. I want to create what makes me happy and excited. And right now, I am both of those things.
Love,
Kimberlee Allan, the Hardcore Florist.

What makes this company “hardcore”?

  • I believe in the reduce, reuse, recycle principle.
  • I reject traditional flower shop nonsense such as using toxic chemicals to make things look pretty.
  • I don’t soak stems in a nasty stem preservative nor use flower foam; the latter contains carcinogens such as formaldehyde, carbon black and non biodegradable plastics.
  • I thrift and repurpose as much as possible.
  • I buy as locally as I can.
  • I actually use my brain to think of new and exciting ideas instead of relying on the tired lackluster trends that the industry pushes out.
  • I also don’t design with flowers that I don’t like.
  • Lastly, I believe in kicking ass and doing what I love.
